Christian Fennesz is an Austrian guitarist and electronic musician. His 2001 album, Endless Summer, is one of this decade’s definitive recordings. Its warm, melodic ambience coupled with startling passages of crackling electronics and noise were focused into a then nearly unheard of pop context. The album’s 2004 follow-up, Venice, marked a noticeable change toward a darker, more ethereal tone in his work.(2008 Nov / Joe Davenport)
